Learn Quran with Tajweed Online

Tajweed is the science of reciting the Quran the way it was revealed to be recited. This course does not stop at teaching you the rules — it makes them audible in your own recitation, ayah by ayah, with a tutor correcting you in real time.

Level

Intermediate to advanced

Prerequisite

Can read the mushaf

Class length

30 minutes, one-on-one

Typical duration

6–12 months

Why Tajweed is not optional decoration

Arabic is a precise language in which a small articulation error changes meaning. Recited with the wrong letter, a word of praise can become something else entirely — which is why the scholars treated the correct articulation of the Quran as a communal obligation rather than a stylistic preference.

Allah commands in Surah Al-Muzzammil, "and recite the Quran with measured recitation" (73:4). Tajweed is the body of knowledge that explains what "measured" actually requires: where each letter is formed, how long each vowel is held, and how letters change when they meet.

Rules taught, and taught properly

Many students can recite the rules of noon sakinah from memory and still not apply a single one correctly while reading. This course is built the other way round: every rule is introduced, then immediately drilled inside real verses until it becomes automatic.

  • Makharij al-huroof — the seventeen articulation points, letter by letter
  • Sifat — the permanent and conditional qualities of each letter
  • Noon sakinah and tanween: izhar, idgham, iqlab, ikhfa
  • Meem sakinah: ikhfa shafawi, idgham shafawi, izhar shafawi
  • The madd family — natural, connected, separated and compulsory elongation
  • Qalqalah, ghunnah, lam shamsiyyah and qamariyyah
  • Rules of stopping (waqf) and starting (ibtida)

How correction actually happens

Tajweed cannot be learned silently. Your tutor recites a phrase applying the rule under discussion, you recite it back, and the difference between the two is named precisely: your ikhfa was too short, your qalqalah is bouncing on the wrong letter, your ص is drifting towards س.

This is the part no recorded course can replicate, and it is the reason a serious Tajweed student needs a teacher who can hear them. Our tutors carry Ijazah — a certified chain of transmission — and have taught non-native speakers long enough to predict the errors before they happen.

What you will sound like at the end

By the end of the course students recite with correct articulation without thinking about it, hold madd lengths consistently, stop and start at meaningful places in the verse, and can identify the rule operating in any line of the mushaf on sight. Many go on to pursue Ijazah certification.

What you will be able to do

  • Makharij (articulation points) of every letter
  • Rules of noon sakinah, meem sakinah and madd
  • Practical application in daily recitation
  • Beautify your voice and rhythm

Quran with Tajweed — frequently asked questions

No. Tajweed governs how the Quran is pronounced, not what it means. You need to be able to read the Arabic script fluently — if you cannot yet, start with our Quran Reading (Nazra) course and move here afterwards.
