Distance is the Australian problem
Australia's Muslim population sits overwhelmingly in western Sydney and northern Melbourne. Families in those areas have real choice โ Islamic schools, established masajid, weekend programmes. Families anywhere else frequently have nothing within an hour's drive.
For a family in regional Queensland, on the Sunshine Coast, in Hobart or in Darwin, online classes are not a convenience over the local alternative. They are the alternative. The tutor pool available to a family in Toowoomba becomes identical to the one available in Lakemba.
Daylight saving, handled state by state
Australian time is genuinely awkward: New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT, South Australia and Tasmania observe daylight saving; Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory do not. For four months of the year Brisbane and Sydney are in different times despite sharing a border.
We track this per student rather than per country. Your class stays at the same local time in your state, whichever side of the daylight saving line you are on, and we make the adjustment at the October and April changeovers ourselves.
Perth and the two-hour gap
Western Australia runs two hours behind the eastern states for most of the year and three hours behind during eastern daylight saving. Perth families are used to being an afterthought in national scheduling.
AWST is treated as a first-class timezone here. A 4:30 pm class in Perth is booked exactly as readily as a 4:30 pm class in Sydney, and there is no assumption that you will move to suit the east coast.
Around the Australian school year
The Australian four-term year with a long DecemberโJanuary summer break is scheduled around directly. Many families increase their classes over the summer holidays, when children have six clear weeks, and step back down when term one starts.
Ramadan is also worth planning for: when it falls in the Australian summer the fasts are long and afternoon classes become difficult. We move students to a post-Iftar or pre-dawn schedule for the month.
Students across Australia
We teach families in these areas and everywhere in between โ because classes are online, being far from a city makes no difference to the tutor you get.

From a family in Sydney, Australia
โMy daughters look forward to every class. They've learned their duas, prayers, and beautiful stories of the prophets. The free trial convinced us within the first lesson.โ
